Erasmus+ teaching mobility of the UMCS staff in Tanzania

On 22-26 April 2024, a group of academic teachers of the Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin visited Jordan University College in Morogoro (JUCo) in Tanzania. The participants of the Erasmus+ teaching mobility programme were: Dr. Konrad Czernichowski (Department of World Economy and European Integration), Dr. Grzegorz Grela (Department of Intellectual Capital and Quality) and MA Piotr Wetoszka (Department of Economic and Regional Policy).

Our staff introduced the academic community at JUCO to the profile of our city and Maria-Curie-Skłodowska University, presenting our educational offer tailored to the needs of foreign students. The classes conducted by our staff covered a variety of topics and took the form of lectures and workshops. Jordan University College students had the opportunity to learn about how economies work under the conditions of risk and how processes (e.g. of knowledge transfer) are managed. Also, they participated in a collective bargaining simulation, playing the roles of employees and employers. An added value of the teaching mobility was a training session for a group of students on how to create and administer a web portal. Thereby, the goal was to enhance the capabilities of Jordan University College to successfully promote its activities in the international academic community.

The Erasmus+ teaching mobility has been an important step towards strengthening the cooperation between Maria Curie-Sklodowska University and research and teaching centres in Tanzania. In that vein, our staff also visited the University of Mzumbe, where they met with university authorities and students. Their stay in Mzumbe was a great opportunity to discuss planned teaching mobilities as well as to deepen the cooperation in research.
