Student Scientific Club of Neurobiologists

The Student Scientific Club of Neurobiologists was established at the Department of Animal Physiology and Pharmacology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology in May 2014. The Club is interdisciplinary, as it brings together not only students of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, but also students of cognitive science from the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology. The Club members’ interests are focused on various aspects of the physiological and psychological brain function.

Main goals and tasks of the Club

  • extension of the knowledge of neurobiology and development of Club members’ interest in neurobiology
  • preparation of the Club members for scientific work through their involvement in the implementation of research projects as well as exploration and improvement of research methods used in neurobiology
  • establishment and maintenance of cooperation with other similar organisations
  • promotion of the Club, Faculty, and University in the country and abroad
  • popularisation of knowledge of neurobiology
  • integration of students

The Club Members take part in organisation of cyclical popular science events, e.g. Lublin Science Festival, Biologists’ Night, and UMCS Open Days. In the academic year 2019/2020, the Club was a co-organiser of the 1st Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference “NeuroAcademy”.

Noteworthy, the Club members were awarded with a distinction in the Best Debut category during the Science Picnic organised as part of the 11th Lublin Science Festival (2014).
